Position Summary

The job of the Catering Manager (CM) is to maintain and grow the catering business by meeting or exceeding marketing plans, objectives and financial goals. Business will be collected from website requests, general inquires not through the website and cold calls.  CM will maintain and organize the Google Calendar to reflect all monthly events. CM will ensure the orders do not negatively affect the daily functions of the kitchen and will communicate with Kitchen Manager to ensure all requests are feasible, should the request be deemed “out of the ordinary”. CM will oversee food preparation, transportation, and set up off all events to ensure success. Deepening brand loyalty and providing guests with a positive Taco Buddha experience should be of utmost priority.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Answer all inquiry emails within 48 hours or 72 hours, pending the request comes through during days of non-operation.
  • Organize and plan event to customer satisfaction, including appropriate timing, items packed, and necessary communication with event venue.
  • Ensure high food quality served at event and make necessary adjustments should the food quality dip below Taco Buddha/health code standards.
  • CM is responsible for passing along relevant menus to the guest as well as proper portion recommendations.
  • CM will invoice and properly charge the guest based on the decided menu.
    • All changes following the initial payment should be accounted for whether by additional payment or reimbursement.
    • Payments and receipts to be tracked monthly and back logged for reference
  • Supplying the kitchen with an up-to-date menu as well as adequate time prior to event to place orders for additional product needed.
  • Should the event call for it, the CM will put appropriate blocks in the POS to account for kitchen prep time and staff needed. To be communicated to the Kitchen Manager.
  • Maintain Google event calendar, giving each event the appropriate description including but not limited to guest count, timing in relation to Kitchen ready by time, CM leave by time, and guest dinner time, items needed to bring, and an attached up to date menu for the event.
    • Event information to be relayed to management staff at each manager’s meeting the week or weeks prior to said events
  • CM responsible for sending follow-up survey to each event organizer and communicate any negative feedback to the appropriate parties.
  • Should an event require staff additional to CM, CM to find outside staff to work said event. Taco Buddha employees may be used to staff events should they not be required to work in the restaurant on said event date.
    • Train, coach and develop catering crew members and team leaders
    • Delegate tasks to team to provide follow up
    • Hold all team members accountable for their performance; provide coaching and counseling as needed
    • Provide effective, open, and consistent communication on goals and expectations during team meetings while recognizing positive contributions
    • Educate team on and also enforce all appropriate personnel policies, labor laws and security and safety procedures
  • CM responsible for working, setting up, and breaking down all events unless previously communicated with General Manager and Owner.
  • CM responsible for cleaning both the event space and items used for event. Completing dishes and unpacking/restocking catering stock included in this.
  • CM to communicate any relevant menu changes to guest and update their event accordingly.
  • CM to host tastings for inquiring wedding couples and follow necessary contract deposit process/steps should the couple move forward with Taco Buddha.
    • CM to maintain records of wedding contracts.
  • Any staff receiving commission for working an event will need to be communicated to payroll on the Monday of pay following the event.
  • Should an event take place outside of the 45 hours per week, as allotted by their salaries, appropriate commission, and tips to be communicated to payroll on the Monday of pay following the event.
  • Adhere to and exceed sanitation and safety standards.
  • CM will respond appropriately to events that are unable to see completion and communicate with guests should dates free up in their favor.
  • CM will arrive to event in a timely manner and appropriately represent the Taco Buddha brand. Should a delay in arrival occur, CM will communicate this with event coordinator and General Manager.
  • CM will maintain catering stock and communicate with Kitchen Manager when additional supplies need to be ordered. CM will organize and clean the catering stock holding area on a regular basis to help maintain this stock.
  • CM understands that slower seasons in the event calendar will require them to work floor shifts in the restaurant.
  • Develop solutions and new tactics to mirror the growth of Taco Buddha and any outside factors that would shift business
